PENSION AND
RETIREMENT

Across Canada less than 40% of working people are
covered by a private pension plan. The other 60% will, at best,
only have the very minimal coverage provided by the CPP/QPP when
they retire and Old Age Security at 65.

At COPE/SEPB on the other hand, well over 85% of our members have
private pension plans that will ensure them a decent retirement.

COPE/SEPB believes that all working people deserve decent pension
coverage, that our pension money should work for us and that we
should invest it responsibly. We work hard for our money and our
best interests are the same as those of our sisters and brothers
around the world.

More than 1.2 trillion dollars are invested by private Canadian
pension plans and we can influence how our money is invested.
Through our involvement in our pension committees, through
publicity and education and by supporting campaigns we can raise
awareness and have an impact.
